BshamelesslyU

I was looking through some old photies and generally just thinking back, when I came across this photo of my hubbie and I at a fun fair.

No make up, no filters, just plain old fun.

Of course I believe in the importance of making the time to have a professional photo shoot done, whether it's a family shoot, or for your CV, or whatever.

BUT - being willing to selfie on the tea cups while your head (and tummy) is spinning is a great thing too.

And that's why you have lately seen me write about "Be Shamelessly You" - I believe to truly be happy, you have to be you, and love the authentic you - and that's why we should be in photos in every stage of our lives. (Yes, even a few kgs over weight...)

So for the sake of hashtag length, "Be Shamelessly You" now is #BshamelesslyU

And I am trying to live it!

In the direction of my dreams

So I was sitting in the Spur the other day with my hubbie, while the kids were playing in the play area, with them only popping back for the occasional chip. It was my son’s choice to go to the Spur, hubbie and I were actually on our way to Vida, but puppy dog eyes from our six year old made us adapt our plan.

Lately I don’t drink sugar in my lattes (although I can’t say the same for hazelnut syrup…), but Spur coffee is a bit stronger than my preference, so I dragged a sugar packet closer. I read the “inspirational quote” on the back, decided that I didn’t quite agree, so I started to read through all the packets, in order to put the “right one” in my drink. And I found it:

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.” – Thoreau

That is my plan; that is what I hope to achieve. Sometimes responsibility and “just plain life” cloud our vision, and the dream start to fade. Now, I am not planning on packing my bags and go live on an island under a palm tree (maybe for a week, but I’ll miss my lattes too much). What I am planning is to get back to my dreams for my life (where I am mostly happy, I am grateful to say), but also my business.

So this year will be a time of transition, where I build towards being able to provide you with not just a photograph, but an experience, with guidance beyond the photo, and how to be able to use your images to put a smile on your face, preferably every day. And along the way I want to develop a few of my other passions…

Wish me luck!

Take the shot...

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
–Wayne Gretzky

If you've bounced around my Facebook Page recently, you may have noticed a photo tip I posted there, that basically says... take the photo.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that you should "spray and pray" (taking a lot of pics and hope for a good one), I believe you should always try your best. I'm talking about those times you see a moment unfold and you don't take the shot - coz it "won't be good enough".

Take it anyway - the result might surprise you.

Wayne Gretzky I quoted above is a former professional ice hockey player, and I'm pretty sure he was not talking about photos, but the words holds truth for you and me as well.

My "lucky" shot taken with my cell phone.

Quoted - life is like a camera

"Life is like a camera. Just focus on what's important and capture the good times. Develop from the negatives, and if things don't work out, just take another shot."

Quoted - Matt Hardy

“ Beauty can be seen in all things, seeing and composing the beauty is what separates the snapshot from the photograph."
